This Happy Hour drawing is a great place to have fun and try your hand at sketching. We provide paper, sketch pencils and one free glass of wine and of course a great burlesque model. This class will introduce beginners to basic wheel techniques and expand wheel methods and surface decoration for the continuing student. The course will include wedging, centering the clay; throwing a variety of bowl and cylinder forms such as cups and vases; finishing and glazing. This class enables students to evolve at their own level and improve their skill in clay. Class includes Open Studio time.

This class is for students who already possess the basic wheel throwing skills and are able to throw more complicated forms. Advanced students are encouraged through instruction and demonstration to perfect their craftsmanship and continue exploration of various surface decoration and firing techniques.

Enjoy the beautiful Rockville Town Square panorama, sip a glass of wine and let your creative juices flow. Your studio is the VisArts Rooftop terrace and for your painting experience you will receive a partially pre-sketched canvas, acrylic paint, brushes, easels, apron and instructor. We also provide a glass of wne and unlimited soda and snacks. If you desire, beer and additional wine is available for purchase. This experience is the perfect chance to learn the basics of acrylic painting while enjoying the company of friends and other creative folks. Instruction is provided in the first half-hour so be sure to be on time, after that our instructor will move throughout the studio" providing guidance as you paint your "masterpiece." Weather decisions made 24 hours in advance. All reservation cancellation requests must be made 24 hours in advance by e-mail to lgallant@visartscenter.org.
