Looking for a creative outlet and a fun time? Mixed Media projects are the perfect chance to color outside the lines and enjoy the freedom of a no-rules artistic experience. We provide a stretched canvas, acrylics, tempera paint, watercolor, printed graph
ics, textiles, natural objects, stickers, transfers, stencils and more. We will have examples that you can use to guide your creative experience or just follow your own muse. This is a relaxing, creative evening and you take your canvas with you. To make the evening even more fun, we also provide red and white wine, sodas and snacks.
Photography - Darkroom and Digital: High School (Ages 13-17)

Students develop skills in using both SLR (DSLR) and traditional film cameras, processing traditional film, printing black and white photographs in a chemical darkroom and use of PhotoShop to produce digital prints. Contemporary photographic technology a
nd experimental darkroom techniques will be explored. Photographic composition will be stressed. Those students interested in Advanced Placement Portfolio in Photography during the school year will be able to create a body of work as an expression of their own personal vision during this summer session. All chemicals and paper provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own SLR and/or traditional film cameras with them. There will be a small number of loaner cameras available for student sign-out.

Need extra help with your band or orchestra instrument this summer? Want to learn a new band or orchestra instrument? This two-week session provides individual and group instruction in instrumental and music performance techniques. Students interested
in starting or trying a new instrument will have that opportunity over the course of the sessions. Some lender instruments are available (please inquire in advance). All abilities welcome. Only band and orchestra instruments.

This two-week course will provide insight into the diverse world of electronic music with an emphasis on basic audio technology and software. Students will learn to record, edit and produce recordings of their own performances. Students will become fami
liar with various types of audio software including Audacity, Mixcraft and receive a basic introduction to a wide variety of applications in computer music. No prior knowledge of recording or programming is needed though basic computer skills are helpful.
Fused Glass and Glass Mosaics: High School (Ages 13-17)

Learn basic and advanced glass cutting techniques while working on a variety of fused glass projects. Students will have the opportunity to study composition and color theory and to work with striker and dichro glass, stringers, noodles and rods in addit
ion to regular fusible glass. Students will have the opportunity to work on larger more intricate projects. Students will then use their glass cutting skills to create faux stained glass window projects.
Portfolio Development: High School (Ages 13-17)

In this workshop students will have the opportunity to create a diverse two-dimensional portfolio ranging from still life and figurative work to abstraction and design using a variety of media and techniques. This portfolio class is designed so that stud
ents can produce the work necessary to gain entry into upper level art classes offered in Montgomery County high schools. Cultural, historical and social/political themes will be explored to give depth and meaning to work. There will be one walking field trip to a nearby historical cemetery to expose students to outdoor sketching techniques.

Students will have the opportunity to explore both the pottery wheel and hand-building techniques. All clay and glazes will be provided for student use. Students will focus on glazing and other surface decoration concepts that can be used during the con
struction of ceramic work or post bisque firing. This class will be useful to students seeking to create work to add to their Advanced Placement 3-D portfolio. All clay, glazes and firing costs are included in tuition.
