VisArts at Rockville and Rockville Science Center presents Lights Up! At a time dominated by holiday lights, VisArts presents the work of artists utilizing light as a medium. See Elliot Williams’ first ever laser-driven projected images randomly created by computer software, Tom Cummins’ lightboxes of illuminated city scenes and abstract art, Roisin Fitzpatrick’s contemporary interpretation of light, from the illumination of Newgrange at the winter solstice to the Whirlpool Galaxy, water crystals and fractal designs. Each project expresses beautiful, intricate patterns with simple elegance, whether using projected laser-driven light, lightboxes or natural silks and fine crystals to create entirely unique art forms.

Please join us at the Opening Reception: Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 7:00 pm – 9:30pm. VisArts Kaplan Gallery, 2nd Floor. H.E. Ambassador of Ireland to the United States Michael Collins will introduce the work of Roisin Fitzpatrick ─ Artist of the Light. Wine, hors d’oeuvres, music, and greetings by a friendly robot.
