Common Ground Gallery

Robin Meyer’s solo exhibition in the Common Ground Gallery at VisArts investigates Baltimore and finds a city branded by the red “X”- a mark signifying an uninhabitable dwelling. The “X” appears frequently in her exhibition where traditional painting and drawing merge with digital technologies. The “X”, Meyer suggests, might serve as the current logo of Baltimore. She presents a portrait of Baltimore as a city whose charms and deficits exist side by side. The city emerges as a confused 21st century location that is part graphic novel, film noir and actual fact.
